MORROW DOUBLE SINKS QUEENS
Queen's 3  BANBRIDGE 4THs 21
April 4, 2009

Bann Fourths exacted revenge on their own territory for their away defeat earlier this season at the hands of Queen’s Thirds.

The students looked dangerous in the opening exchanges but Bann managed to prevent them registering the score that their efforts probably deserved, thanks in no small way to several excellent cover tackles from scrum-half Adam Ervine. A series of injuries left both teams playing understrength, with Bann having a one man numerical advantage for all of the second half.

The game was scoreless until 15 minutes into the second half. Bann won a series of quick rucks to put Matthew Morrow in space on the left wing and the Banbridge Academy student glided in unopposed. Alistair Lewis kicked an excellent conversion in the gusting wind.

Bann went further ahead when Andy Cowan tapped a quick penalty and touched down near the posts, leaving Lewis to add the simpler kick.
When Ervine picked up a facial injury he swapped places with Morrow and the replacement scrum-half picked up his second try with a darting run which took him round and between several defenders over the 30 metres to the line. Lewis added the extras.

Queen’s enjoyed a period of pressure towards the end which earned them a try, the missed conversion being the final action of the game.
