Ladies
Committee
Banbridge RFC Ladies Committee held their AGM on Friday night past prior to their annual dinner which is normally hosted by the outgoing Club President. Although our outgoing President, Johnston Mairs is out of hospital he still remains very ill so incoming President Bill Ferris did the honours. The roles are also reversed as it the men who serve the ladies for a change in order to thank them in some small way for all catering they have done throughout the season.
Although the Ladies had been assisting at functions etc through the 60&s the Ladies Committee was officially formed in 1973 when Irene Hozack was elected Chairperson, Sandra Ledlie elected Secretary and Louise Wilson elected tresasurer.
From then until now the Ladies Committee has flourished and Banbridge RFC are the envy of clubs all over Ireland for the assistance the Ladies Committee provides.
The Ladies Committee works hard throughout the season catering for visiting dignitaries at pre-match receptions and feeding visiting teams. The ultimate test, however, happens every year at the Annual Club Dinner when the Ladies Committee pulls out all the stops to feed the dozens of members and guests who attend this most enjoyable evening.
New members are always warmly invited and some say it is worth it simply to taste Duffers punch or to get a flower and a kiss from the President at the Ladies Committee dinner.
